thousands of people have been saved from disability by the use of artificial intelligence

NANDAN: Using artificial intelligence software in UK hospitals has saved thousands of patients from permanent disability caused by strokes, a study has revealed.

An analysis of the early stages of stroke performed with the Brainomix e-Stroke System technology showed that the system can significantly reduce the time between case diagnosis and treatment, which is critical.

More than 111,000 suspected stroke patients have benefited from five stroke networks in the UK using this technology.

Faster results can cut the time between a doctor's examination and starting treatment by more than an hour. While using this technology, the rate of patients who recovered with no disability or minor disability increased from 16 percent to 48 percent.

Dr. Timothy Ferriss, director of the transformation at England's National Health Services, said that every minute saved in the initial hospital check-up of people with stroke-like symptoms could dramatically improve the patient's chances of being discharged from the hospital after recovery.

UK Health Secretary Steve Barclay said this technology shows that artificial intelligence has the potential to transform our health system, bringing faster and more accurate diagnosis.

Around 85,000 people suffer a stroke in the UK every year, and prompt diagnosis and treatment are vital to their recovery.
